Popular Woodworking Magazine

Hi, as many of you already know I own and operate a small business here at my home called D.C. Metal Designs ( http://dcmetaldesigns.com/ ) we specialize in hand crafted reproduction iron and brass hardware for a company called Horton Brasses ( http://www.horton-brasses.com/ ) and we also make hand forged metal art, furniture, jewelry and many other custom items from metal. A few years back I had a really nice surprise when I seen some of my hardware being used by Norm Abram on the television show The New Yankee Workshop. Well here is another surprise and a great honor for me to see some of my custom brass trunk hardware being used on a piece of furniture that is featured on the cover of the August 2012 issue of Popular Woodworking Magazine. http://www.shopwoodworking.com/popular-woodworking-august-2012?lid=pwtnhome061812
If you get the opportunity to read the article please do it is very interesting.
I cant wait to see where some of my work will show up next

inspiration

We all have those days when we ask our selves, is it really worth putting the extra effort to give 110% into every thing we do or make in life ? It seems like I have those days a lot anymore but I keep trying to keep a positive attitude and do the best I can at everything I do. So I felt the need to share this e-mail with you that I have recieved from one of my customers on etsy. It is the little things like this that keeps me giving 110% and I hope with sharing this e-mail with you it will help you keep a positive attitude to do the best you can at everything you do.
Thanks, Darryl

The New Yankee Workshop

Just wanted to tell you about some of the products that I make for Horton Brasses, that have been used by Norm Abram on the New Yankee Workshop.
I was flipping through the channels on the T.V. one Sunday morning and ran across the New Yankee Workshop.I stopped to see what Norm was making, and decided to watch the whole show.He was making a tilt top table. As he was finishing up the table,he started talking about this piece of hardware called a table spider he was going to use on the table, that keep the legs of the table from becoming loose through years of use. I looked at the spider that he was using and was surprised, I called my wife in to the room and told her I was pretty sure that was one of our spiders.
(Its kind of funny how a person can spot their own work). So on Monday I called Horton Brasses, and asked them if Norm bought their products and used them on his show, they said yes, he buys from them a lot and that was definitely one of my spiders.
Even though I didn't get any recognition on the show ,It was a great honor to me knowing that a man like Norm Abram is using products that I have made in my studio at my home.
If you go to the Horton Brasses link and click on the as seen in then click on the New Yankee Workshop, you will see other products that are used in the New Yankee Workshop by Norm.
Thanks ,
Darryl

Our 100'th customer does not know this yet but we will be sending them a special gift with there order just to say congratulations and thank you for being our 100'th customer.
We would like to thank all of our wonderful customers for there business this past 9 months and we are looking forward to getting to meet our next 100 customers.

Most of you have watched my video clip that my youngest son Brian put together for me, and if you haven't seen it yet I would like to invite you to watch it,my son done a great job putting it together. We are just starting out and learning how to work with YouTube videos, we plan on making some how to videos on blacksmithing and how we make some of our items, one of the videos I would like to make first will be one of how I make my steel Rose Bud with step by step instructions and offer the Rose Bud kits that I make for sale in my etsy shop for other people to purchase and be able to make there own steel rose buds.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think about this idea, I would appreciate any feedback you may have.
