inspiration

We all have those days when we ask our selves, is it really worth putting the extra effort to give 110% into every thing we do or make in life ? It seems like I have those days a lot anymore but I keep trying to keep a positive attitude and do the best I can at everything I do. So I felt the need to share this e-mail with you that I have recieved from one of my customers on etsy. It is the little things like this that keeps me giving 110% and I hope with sharing this e-mail with you it will help you keep a positive attitude to do the best you can at everything you do.
Thanks, Darryl

Snowflake Ornaments

It is that time of year again, and just in time to get ready for the Holiday season are my recycled steel snowflakes. In the first picture the snowflakes are left natural steel that have been heat blued to give them color and then powder coated with a silver metallic clear coat to give them a little sparkle and a glossy non toxic finish that will last for years.
In the second picture they were powder coated with a high gloss white and then re coated with the same silver metallic clear powder coat to give them shine and sparkle.
These snowflake ornaments can be hung on a Christmas tree or tied on packages as a extra little something to go with a gift, you can also use them for decorating or any thing else you want.
These Ornaments can be purchased here in my etsy shop.

Steel Bluegill Fish Sculpture

Here is a great gift for the fisherman in your family.

This fish sculpture is made from recycled 16 gauge steel and is made by cutting out two identical fish patterns and welding the two pieces together at the seams just like if you were sewing a pillow together. Each side is hand textured with a hammer and chisels, once the desired texture and pattern is reached a small tube is welded in the bottom of the two sides and checked for air leaks, The fish is then put in the forge and heated to a cherry red, once it is heated a air hose is attached to the tube and air is blown into the two halves to puff the metal up like a pillow. the fish is then wire brushed, heat colored and clear coated to preserve the natural beauty of the steel.Size...5 1/2" tall X 10 1/4" long.

The New Yankee Workshop

Just wanted to tell you about some of the products that I make for Horton Brasses, that have been used by Norm Abram on the New Yankee Workshop.
I was flipping through the channels on the T.V. one Sunday morning and ran across the New Yankee Workshop.I stopped to see what Norm was making, and decided to watch the whole show.He was making a tilt top table. As he was finishing up the table,he started talking about this piece of hardware called a table spider he was going to use on the table, that keep the legs of the table from becoming loose through years of use. I looked at the spider that he was using and was surprised, I called my wife in to the room and told her I was pretty sure that was one of our spiders.
(Its kind of funny how a person can spot their own work). So on Monday I called Horton Brasses, and asked them if Norm bought their products and used them on his show, they said yes, he buys from them a lot and that was definitely one of my spiders.
Even though I didn't get any recognition on the show ,It was a great honor to me knowing that a man like Norm Abram is using products that I have made in my studio at my home.
If you go to the Horton Brasses link and click on the as seen in then click on the New Yankee Workshop, you will see other products that are used in the New Yankee Workshop by Norm.
Thanks ,
Darryl

Yin Yang Necklace

Here is my new Yin Yang Necklace that I put in my Etsy Shop.
The meaning of Yin-Yang
This Symbol(Yin-Yang) represents the ancient Chinese understanding of how things work. The outer circle represents "everything", while the black and white shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two energies, called "yin" (black) and "yang" (white), which cause everything to happen. They are not completely black or white, just as things in life are not completely black or white, and they cannot exist without each other.
While "yin" would be dark, passive, downward, cold, contracting, and weak, "yang" would be bright, active, upward, hot, expanding, and strong. The shape of the yin and yang sections of the symbol, actually gives you a sense of the continual movement of these two energies, yin to yang and yang to yin, causing everything to happen: just as things expand and contract, and temperature changes from hot to cold.

Twitter

Well I just joined Twitter last night,
I am still learning about the whole Internet thing so everyone will have to bare with me while I get my marbles in order. If anyone has any tips or comments they want to share please let me know.
Also I wanted to let everyone know even with the bad economy that I made 17 sales at the holiday show in New York City, mostly small ticket items but that is OK ! a sale is a sale and it was a great HONOR for me to be in the show, a new experience for me.
Thanks, Darryl
